WasteLESS Week: Small Actions, Big Impact
This October, let’s make every meal count.
Food brings people together, fuels our days, and connects us to the communities and planet we share. But when food is wasted, so are the water, energy, land, and resources that went into producing it.
That’s why Sodexo continues to champion WasteLESS Week—a global movement encouraging businesses, communities, and consumers to rethink how we use food and take meaningful steps to reduce waste.
Making every plate count
Food waste is one of the biggest opportunities we have to make a positive environmental impact. By preventing food from being wasted, we can help reduce greenhouse gas emissions, conserve precious natural resources, and make better use of the food already available to us.
At Sodexo, we work with our clients and partners to make food waste reduction part of everyday operations.
Measuring waste to make a difference
Through WasteWatch, Sodexo’s food waste prevention program, we use data and insights to help food service teams identify where waste happens and take targeted action to prevent it.
From understanding what is left on plates to improving food preparation and production, measuring food waste helps turn everyday observations into meaningful action.
Reducing waste is not only about what we throw away—it’s also about how we can create greater value for people and communities.
Small choices can make a big difference
Whether you’re managing a workplace dining program, preparing meals for your family, or choosing what to put on your plate, there are simple ways to waste less:
- Take only what you can eat. You can always come back for more.
- Choose imperfect produce. Good food doesn’t have to look perfect.
- Save your leftovers. Get creative and give them another life.
- Plan before you buy. Purchase what you need and use what you have.
- Be mindful of portions. Small changes can prevent food from ending up in the bin.
Every meal saved from becoming waste is a meaningful step toward a more sustainable future.
“Every bite counts, so let’s not waste the chance to make a difference.”
Sustainability is better when we do it together
WasteLESS Week is more than a campaign. It is an invitation to rethink our everyday choices and work together toward a food system that is better for people and the planet.
Sodexo continues to collaborate with clients, partners, communities, and industry organizations to advance food waste prevention and responsible consumption.
Our partnerships—including our work with WWF on food loss and waste and our membership in WRAP’s International Food Waste Coalition—reflect our commitment to driving collective action across the food service and hospitality industries.
Together, let's waste less.
Whether you are a business looking to make your food operations more sustainable or a consumer looking for simple ways to make a difference, every action matters.
Less waste. More value. A better tomorrow.
