I pleaded for a chance, even offering to work three months without pay to prove my reliability. He refused.
I went home in tears, praying for the day I would be in his position—determined never to treat others the way he had treated me.
Years passed, and my career progressed. I climbed the ranks from Supervisor to Assistant Manager, then Manager, and eventually Senior Manager in multiple five-star hotels. My journey in food and beverage took me deep into the heart of luxury hospitality. Working alongside world-renowned chefs, I thrived in the fast-paced, high-stakes world of five-star kitchens. The precision, artistry, and relentless pursuit of perfection made it exhilarating.
Then, a different opportunity emerged—Sodexo.
It was love at first sight. Transitioning from the glittering world of luxury hospitality to a corporate environment was a significant shift, but it felt right. In my first seven months at Sodexo, I found a unique sense of fulfillment. Here, I wasn’t just a cog in the machine; I was part of a team of self-made individuals, each with a story of resilience and determination—just like mine.
The transition came with challenges. Adjusting to a new environment and understanding different operational structures—required a steep learning curve. But my years in hospitality proved invaluable. I brought with me a sharp eye for detail, a proactive mindset, and a deep understanding of customer service. I learned to navigate operations independently, anticipate needs, and implement practical solutions.
One of the most rewarding aspects of working at Sodexo is the opportunity to make a real impact. Whether it’s providing a delicious meal, creating a safe and welcoming environment, or fostering strong client partnerships, I know that my work contributes to something meaningful.
My approach has always been to use my experiences to drive positive changes. By aligning my actions with Sodexo’s core values, I believe we can create a tangible difference. It’s about improving the everyday experience for everyone, about building a better life for all.
This journey—from a young mother turned away at an interview to a leader in the industry—has shaped my perspective. I’ve learned that resilience, adaptability, and commitment to excellence can open doors once thought closed. And as I continue to grow with Sodexo, I remain committed to one simple promise: to always lead with empathy, integrity, and the determination to make a difference.
