A Global Culinary Experience: My Journey as a Chef at an International Event

Every day, inside the bustling athlete village of a prestigious global sporting event, an astonishing 3,000 to 4,500 meals were meticulously prepared across six culinary stations. These stations catered to a diverse range of tastes, offering world cuisine, regional specialties, Halal, Asian, and Caribbean delights. From sizzling grilled meats—succulent lamb, tender steaks, juicy turkey, flaky fish, and flavorful poultry—to delectable, braised dishes such as aromatic Biryani, rich Chicken Masala, hearty Beef Stew, and an array of vibrant vegetable creations, the culinary offerings were a true feast for the senses.

Working alongside 20 exceptional chefs from around the world, I had the privilege of contributing to the preparation of these exquisite dishes. To ensure seamless operations, our team was divided into two shifts: the morning shift, which began at 3:00 AM and ended at 2:00 PM, and the midday shift, which ran from 1:00 PM to 12:00 AM.

Beyond our culinary duties, we also had the opportunity to immerse ourselves in the vibrant culture of the host city. Together with my fellow chefs, I explored the local culinary scene, savoring traditional dishes at renowned restaurants and experiencing the energy and excitement of the global sporting event firsthand. It was an unforgettable experience, and I even had the chance to visit my relatives who lived in the city.

Amidst my journey, I found time to cheer passionately for my country's athletes, particularly the national boxing team. Their determination and resilience on the world stage filled me with immense pride and inspiration.

Throughout this transformative experience as a global chef, my son’s unwavering excitement and encouragement fueled my dedication and passion. One of his wishes was for me to greet a global basketball icon if the opportunity arose—though our paths did not cross, the journey itself was an extraordinary reward.
