Shane Taol

Counter Staff

When a client recognized Shane Taol for her honesty, it became a defining milestone in her journey—from humble beginnings to a future shaped by opportunity and hard work. Her story is a powerful reminder that integrity is found in the simplest actions - choosing to do the right thing, even when no one is watching. And when simple things are done the right way, they build trust, strengthen client relationships, and create lasting value. It’s this everyday commitment to excellence that defines Sodexo service.

Echoes of Excellence: A Story of Character and Growth

Some stories don’t begin with big dreams.
Some begin with a simple invitation.

Two years ago, Shane Taol was like many young Filipinos, full of quiet hope, but limited by circumstance. A high school graduate, the second of three siblings, she wanted to go to college.

But wanting and affording are two very different things. Then one day, a cousin asked her to visit the Life Project 4 Youth center.
She said yes. That “yes” changed everything.

At LP4Y, Shane spent six months learning more than just technical skills. She learned how to work with a team, how to multitask, how to communicate, how to believe in her own potential. It wasn’t just training; it was a reset on what she thought her future could be.

When the program ended, she was given an opportunity to join Sodexo Philippines through the SheWorks program.

She didn’t hesitate.

Today, Shane stands behind a food counter at one of Sodexo’s largest client sites. To most people, she is simply a Counter Staff - someone who serves meals, assists customers, and keeps things moving.
But what people don’t immediately see is the quiet pride behind her work. The discipline. The integrity.

And one ordinary day, that integrity spoke louder than anything else.

A customer left behind something valuable - an iPhone. Another time, a cap; small things, easily ignored, easily taken.

Shane didn’t think twice.
She reported the items and made sure they were returned.

No hesitation.
No expectation.
No audience.
Just doing what she believed was right.

A year later, Shane was called for recognition.

Echoes of Excellence Award given by the client.
She was surprised. Confused, even. “Why me?” she asked.
The answer was simple: because honesty still matters.

For Shane, it didn’t feel like something extraordinary. “It was natural,” she said. “It’s what I do every day.”

But to the client and to everyone who heard her story, it meant everything.

Because in a world that often celebrates big wins, Shane reminds us that character is built in the smallest decisions. The quiet ones. The ones no one is supposed to notice.

Today, Shane is not just earning a living; she is building a life.

With her income, she supports herself and helps her family. She stands not just as an employee, but as proof of what opportunity can do when it meets determination.

“I cannot imagine what my life would be if I didn’t have this job,” she shared.

Shane’s story is not just her own.

It is the story of what happens when organizations like Life Project 4 Youth and Sodexo come together, not just to provide jobs, but to restore dignity, build confidence, and create real pathways forward.

Because sometimes, transformation doesn’t look like a grand moment. Sometimes, it looks like a young woman behind a counter, quietly choosing to do the right thing every single day.
